ÖVGW Expands Hydrogen Regulations



The Austrian Association for Gas and Water (ÖVGW) has expanded its regulatory framework for hydrogen. The updated regulations now cover:
  • Hydrogen quality standards
  • Hydrogen injection facilities
  • Hydrogen pipelines: Planning, construction, and initial inspection
  • Hydrogen refueling stations: Planning, production, construction, and initial inspection for hydrogen-powered vehicles
  • Hydrogen production facilities
Newly added regulations:
  • Commissioning, decommissioning, and maintenance of hydrogen pipelines and facilities
  • Safety concept, safety report, and emergency planning for hydrogen pipeline systems
  • Mobile hydrogen refueling stations
Upcoming development:
  • Conversion of natural gas pipelines for hydrogen operation
