AGGM Newsletter 1|2024
Dear readers!

The heating period is drawing to a close, but Austria's gas storage facilities are still well filled at 73 TWh. Security of supply is therefore at a high level. That is a good thing. After all, if too little gas is stored after the winter, it would not be possible to refill the storage facilities to get through the next winter safely if no more gas reaches Europe via Ukraine. A risk that is quite real. Why? The existing alternative import capacities from Germany and Italy are not sufficient.

In addition to security of supply, there are currently many balls in the air in the energy industry. The energy transition requires massive restructuring, which is also to be supported by a whole raft of new legal regulations. The Electricity Industry Act, the Renewable Gas Act, the Hydrogen Promotion Act and many more are either under review or already in the parliamentary process. It remains to be seen which of these legislative projects will succeed in this legislative period.
